This power trio’s live reputation long precedes the release of this self-titled debut album. A bit reluctant in trying to capture their dazzling live sound onto a record, they went for it anyway and – as the press happily admitted – they managed perfectly. This has become an album full of raw energy and heavy guitars, elegantly combined with honest, sensible en melodic songs. TLP

Dj TLP a.k.a. Troubleman is Belgium's most notorious urban dj. He hails from the city of Ghent which also brought the world the legendary dj teams The Glimmers and 2 Many DJ's. TLP started off in the music industry at the same time as these two teams. They soon became good friends and it was together with Mo and Benoelie (a.k.a. the Glimmers) that TLP learned his first tricks as a dj. He was also one of the residents alongside these giants when the now legendary Culture Club opened it's doors in 2002. He is the only dj of this team who is still resident at the Culture Club while The Glimmers and 2many dj's have conquered the world. While these other dj teams are more focused on electro and house music, TLP mainly deals with urban music. He prefers not to be labeled an r'n'b dj though as his sets consist of a healthy mashup of reggae,dancehall, hip hop, electro, latin and afro inspired house, booty bass, old school disco and funk classics, broken beat, a bit of drum and bass, a bit of rock and old and new r'n'b classics. He is known to play long sets (of more than 5 or 6 hours) in which he perfectly blends all these genres into one healthy mix of party vibes.

THE TURNTABLE DUBBERS

With four hands on two decks and a lot of bravado, Timaxx & Drezz bring you a steamy blend of dub, roots, reggae, breax and jungle, ragga, afro-, balkan- and latin-beats and other pieces of funkiness. Uptempo irie indeed.

Their knowledge of history of dance and world music -in particular of the bonds that tie those two together- is immense, as are their DJ skills and their love for a jolly good party.

The Dubbers often take things to the musical underground, and then they'll make sure that their set appeals to the sometimes rather peculiar tastes of its inhabitants. The Turntable Dubbers can turn into demagogic jocks as well because at heart, they are true populists who just love to please the crowd.

In any case, they will always give you one hell of a party, carefully adding yet another beat or spaced-out echo to their musical mélange. This blend of styles is cooked to a climactic frenzy which will bring the audience to the very edge of rapture. Needless to say, they will also bring it shortly -sweaty, steamy et all- to your beer taps.

The Freestylers, Daddy G (Massive Attack), Max Sedgley, Discobar Galaxie, Arsenal and Krafty Kuts -not the sort of people you'll ever find far away from either a beer tap of a turntable- looked upon the Dubbers and saw they were, well, damn funky.

SISTA FLEX

Sista Flex is het alterego van Anouk Verheyen en ze kreeg met de paplepel ingegoten dat muziek alles te maken heeft met passie, verleidingskracht en creatieve energie. Dat die lepel werd aangereikt door daddy Jan Verheyen, de inventieve leadgitarist van de '80-ies' hitformatie Scooter, maakt het des te interessanter. Als tiener kreeg ze haar eerste basis als geluidstechnieker, legde ze zich toe op elektronische muziek en belandde uiteindelijk bij electro en funkhouse. In 2004 echter begon zij eigen nummers te schrijven en in de studio uit te proberen. Bedoeling was een soort retro-pop te creëren die hedendaagse raw cool combineert met de muzikale wijsheid van haar grote voorbeelden: Led Zeppelin, Prince, The Cure... Al snel bleken Anouk's bezwerende stem en originele lyrics op organische samen te vloeien tot een eigentijds en eigenzinnig geluid, coole tracks met vintage aanpak . Sista Flex poogt haar muziek altijd een diepere laag te geven. Emotie, liefde, verlies en melancholie zijn thema's die geregeld terugkomen in de songs . Luister naar het traag trekkende 'Call Cupid', de donkere ritmes van 'Come Around' of het kippenvelmoment 'Fly me back' waarin duidelijk een andere tijdsgeest huist. Een verzameling coole tracks met een vintage aanpak: hallucinant én hypnotiserend. Aan kennis van muziekstijlen ontbreekt het deze jongedame zeker niet. Aan passie en gedrevenheid nog minder!
